Frank Pochyly was born in 1966 in what is now known as the Czech Republic. One of his first creative endeavors was to design and manufacture his own line of skiwear, showcasing the bright and bold lines and colors of the mid-80s. He has received several awards for his early works sold at the Federation of Canadian Artists and completed high-level commissions such as those for Trinity Western University. Today, Frank continues to embrace similar bright and strong colors in his distinctive style, which has become well-known among Vancouver artists. He discovered a loose style of painting using only oils, creating British Columbia oil paintings that reflect a wide range of subject matter. His work is a celebration of passion, as he remembers feeling that each piece represented a passion lost and then found. Frank shares words of advice in a poem: 'If you’ve lost your desire for culture, art, or anything, you must go where it thrives and surrounds you. Make this place your home.' His original art in Vancouver resonates with many, as he is recognized among fine art impressionists and contributes significantly to the local art scene.
